Rising Star Award
Purpose
The National Property Management Association (NPMA) – Rising Star Award recognizes a member in good standing with less than three years in the property/asset management profession whose property practice reflects commitment, creativity, and whose exemplary voluntary service and leadership achievements have positively impacted a community, chapter, region and NPMA.
The recipient of this award is recognized during an award ceremony at the National Education Seminar (NES) and receives an award. In addition, NPMA will award $300 cash to the Chapter whose member achieves this recognition.

Qualifying Criteria
A. Award Year time-frame: Achievements occurring during the nominee’s less than three years’ experience in Property Management and membership in NPMA.
B. Eligibility
1. Nominee must be a member in good standing. (Note: Member in good standing is defined as an NPMA member who is current on dues and active within their Chapter or Region.)
2. Nominee must have less than three years’ experience within the property management profession.
C. Criteria: Nominee has demonstrated one or more of the following:
- A spirit of dedication and resourcefulness
- Collaboration with property professionals in providing property guiding principles
- Participating or leading activities that support the future growth and success of the property profession through their ability to influence people and outcomes
- Transforming change that has resulted from the nominee’s influence on people, organizations or situations
- A positive vision for leadership and a continuing commitment to leadership activities
- Knowledge, skills and abilities related to personal, interpersonal, organizational and civic/service leadership development
- Volunteer service resulting in the advancement or promotion of the property profession
- Personal growth and renewal through volunteer work in community, chapter, and regional leadership activities.
Nomination Process
Any NPMA member in good standing may nominate an individual for this award using the applicable Award Template detailing eligibility and accomplishments of the nominee.
- Chapters, Regions and National will advise all members of the opportunity to nominate an eligible recipient for this award.
- Nominations shall be descriptive of the candidate’s achievements and impacts. Supporting documentation is not required; however, shall be available if requested by the National Awards Committee.
- Nominations must be submitted using the online submittal format on or before the deadline of April 30th of each year. Submit here
- Attach the applicable completed award template
- Attach a high quality photo (png or jpeg files, 300 dpi) of the nominee (current photo is preferred)
Selection Method
- The Director of Awards and VP of Administration will evaluate nominations to ensure completeness and the minimum requirements are met. Accepted nominations are forwarded to the National Awards Committee members.
- The National Awards Committee evaluates each of the narratives, selects the winning nominee, and notifies the National Office.
- NPMA will send communication to the award recipient’s supervisor notifying him or her of the member’s achievements for NPMA.
