Who Should Pursue the CPPA®?
CPPA® Level Certification
is intermediate for candidates who have worked at least 3 years in the area of property management, in at least seven of the recognized property management functional areas.
What is the CPPA® Exam?
- The Certified Professional Property Administrator® (CPPA®) Certification level examination consists of one multiple-choice
exam. Exam scoring is based on 100, multiple choice questions per exam. Exams include 10 additional unscored questions, which are used for future test development.
- Candidates have 116 minutes to take the exam.
- The CPPA® exams cover 8 domains and 28 subdomains
How is the CPPA® Exam Taken?
NPMA contracts with Kryterion to administer the certification exams. Exams may be taken either by: (1) On-line Proctor delivered remotely to the candidate’s computer, or (2) by computer-based testing at a Kryterion Test Center. For additional information, click

What are Study Options?
- All candidates are encouraged to review the exam content outline in preparation for the exam.

Content outlines are in Appendix C of the Candidate Handbook.

There are optional CPPA® preparatory courses
available through NPMA.
It is not a requirement to take these courses to take certification exams. These courses provide no advantage to candidates over other resources when taking the certification exams.

There are other study options available, such as: Self-Study, Chapter led study groups, Company/Corporation led study groups.
- NPMA makes available optional reference/study materials, which may be used in preparing to take the exams for Certified Professional Property Administrator® (CPPA®) available for purchase here

Note: Persons (SMEs, CGB) involved in managing certification exams are not involved in the certification education development or delivery.

What are the Steps to CPPA® Exam?
STEP 1- CPPA® candidates must complete the
ON-LINE APPLICATION FORM
(NPMA members login and non-members will be prompted to create a cert-only profile)
STEP 2 -
Upon approval of Application, a link is emailed to purchase exam
STEP 3 - CPPA® candidates submit Work Experience Summary Form (click for webpage with form)
STEP 4 - Purchase exam (must be taken within 90-days)
STEP 5 - Upon completion of purchase and Work Experience Summary approval, candidate is emailed a Voucher Number to schedule exam.

What Happens After Exam?
The computer scores CPPA® exams taken on-line or in a Test Center. Results are computed immediately
and a pass/fail result is supplied by a Score Report email to the candidate upon completion of the exam.

FAILED EXAMS: May be retaken after 30-days. Click here

PASSED EXAMS: After meeting all eligibility requirements and passing the exam, individuals may use the credential they have been awarded
in all correspondence and professional materials. A serialized, sealed, and signed Certificate will be issued to all new certificants by NPMA. Upon receipt of certificate, candidates are authorized to use the appropriate designation mark: CPPA
® for the Certified Professional Property Administrator® (i .e., John Doe, CPPA®)
The NPMA Property Management certification credentials (CPPS®, CPPA®, and CPPM®)
are valid for five years. It is important that all certificants stay current with the regulations, knowledge, and industry-leading practices that govern the asset/property management profession. NPMA requires certificants to maintain competence
through education, contributions to, and continued work in, the field of professional asset/property management.
