Update from NPMA Executive Board

Advance the profession of Asset Management through leadership in education, standards, compliance, and certifications.

Update on Spring and Fall Seminars

In an effort to remain nimble as an association and continue to provide the greatest value to our membership, the NPMA Executive Board has been evaluating the current structure of our education content – specifically the seminars hosted in the Spring and Fall. Over the past few years (pre-COVID) we have seen a decline in the participation at these events and have struggled to find Chapters that were willing and able to serve as hosts in each of the Regions. In addition, the rising costs of putting on these smaller events, at hotels in locations that would be a draw to our members, has made it extremely difficult to continue to offer the events at a reasonable registration fee.

As a result of these challenges, the Spring and Fall seminars will be converting from in-person events to a virtual event that will be held in conjunction with Asset Management Awareness Month each March – with our first offering occurring in March 2023. These changes will be effective immediately and more information on the specifics of the new event will be coming in the latter part of this year – so stay tuned for details! This new format will allow for increased member participation, provide the ability to attract more content from speakers across the organization and save on resources that keep our organization running. Making this change will allow us to place our focus on the National Education Seminar as our flagship in-person event, as well as providing additional opportunities and support for Chapters to host local Chapter Workshops (both virtual and in-person) for their members.

We understand that change is never easy, but we believe that these changes will help NPMA continue to grow as an organization. We appreciate the membership support and look forward to seeing you at NES!

Consulting Fellow Application 2022

The Consulting Fellow (CF) is the highest recognition bestowed on its members by the NPMA. Consulting Fellows are expected to have made significant and continuous contributions to the field of property management. This recognition is designed to provide the NPMA with a core group of property/asset management technical experts who will mentor the next generation of professionals, educate NPMA members, perpetuate the literature of property/asset management, and provide leadership in the property management field. This core group is known as the "Council of Fellows."

Please go to the NPMA website, sign in, and select ‘Groups’, “Council of Fellows”; and select the most current templates (rev. 9).

Consulting Fellow candidates must submit a completed CF Application with supporting documentation (see website for templates) along with the $100.00 application fee to the NPMA National Office. Reference Process Flow.

1. Submit through the following Consulting Fellows Application on Smartsheet.
It should contain:
a. Application – Revision v.9
b. Supporting Documentation

2. When you upload your application/documentation online, you will receive an email confirmation that will include a link so that you can create and pay your invoice for the $100 application fee. The email will also contain instructions for paying by check. Note: Your application will not be reviewed until the application fee is paid.

CF recipients are recognized annually at the National Education Seminar. In order to be recognized at the 2022 NES, CF applications and supporting documents must be submitted no later than June 22, 2022. In order to provide sufficient time for committee review and recognition presentation, we would appreciate your submittal as soon as possible.

Additional information is contained on the NPMA website. Sign in and then download the CF Application and supporting documents templates (one for PC or one for MAC) and save to your computer. The supporting documentation will help guide you through the process. Please utilize the templates as this helps the committee to identify what documentation supports which requirement. Make sure that your documents are numbered to match the application section item.

If there are any questions about using the application form, please contact NPMA Seminar Education Manager, Lisa Williams, at lwilliams@npma.org.

If you have questions about the application itself or the program, please contact Kathy McFarland, Chair CoF Applications Committee at kgmckat3@gmail.com.
