Announcing the 2017 Rookie of the Year Award Recipient

During the 2017 NES in Phoenix, Arizona, Alamo Chapter member, Carolyn Schneider, CPPS received the Rookie of the Year award.

Carolyn works as an Asset Management Specialist at University Health Systems (UHS-SA) in San Antonio. Arriving with little experience in the property field, Carolyn quickly learned property management as it relates to university property and was promoted from a Property Coordinator to her current title as Property Specialist within a year. As Property Specialist she was soon tasked to write the policies and procedures for UHS-SA. She is the team lead for her company’s team to become ISO certified.

A natural leader, Carolyn coordinated the scheduling of certification group study sessions with her teammates which included reviewing study material, addressing questions for the team to experienced NPMA members (chapter/national level), and helping to schedule certification testing for her UHS-SA teammates. By early 2017, Carolyn and all of her teammates earned their CPPS certification.

Additionally, Carolyn currently serves as the Central Region Director of Marketing.

Thank you, Carolyn, for your dedication to NPMA!

NPMA Fall Education Seminar Confirms General Session Speaker, Kirstie Legerski

Register for the Fall Education Seminar November 15-16, 2017 in Austin, Texas and benefit from a wealth of knowledge from professionals in Contract Property, University/Medical, and State & Local Government including General Session speaker, Kirstie Legerski.

Kirstie Legerski is the Deputy Director of Programs for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Logistics Division. She began her career with TDCJ in 1994, as a Sam Houston State University intern, working as a CAD operator and modular furniture space planner. After graduating with a degree in interior design, she continued working for TDCJ and her perspective on incarceration and offender job training began to change.

Kirstie has served the TDCJ in several capacities and currently has oversight of the division’s offender job skills training programs, planning and research, legislative analysis and staff development. She also oversees the TDCJ’s Braille facility, Geographic Information Systems facility and two computer recovery facilities.

Kirstie feels her current position provides her with a great opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of incarcerated offenders– helping them find purpose and providing them with post-release employment readiness to increase their reentry success.
