Government Property Basics

When it comes to managing assets, understanding the complexities of government regulations is a vital first step. This five-day course presents a detailed analysis of life cycle asset management in government property systems. In addition to the fundamentals of property management and the regulatory requirements of property management; this course includes an overview of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and other appropriate regulations used in federal government procurement of supplies and services. This course is essential if you work in property management, supply-chain, logistics, quality assurance, contract management, procurement, subcontract administration, program management or internal auditing.

  • Regulations Review: Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Federal Management Regulations (FMR), Office of Management & Budget (OMB) Circulars
  • Physical inventories and records
  • Contract closures and dispositions
  • Roles of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
  • Reporting requirements

Skip is currently a Senior Business Analyst with Sunflower Systems. Skip’s 30 years in property management began as a Calibration Expeditor with Hughes Aircraft Company. He advanced through the ranks to management while continuously addressing and adapting changes and improvements in property requirements, systems and processes, along with writing, revising and updating property procedures. Prior to joining Sunflower Systems, Skip retired after 15 years as the Property Manager of HRL Laboratories, LLC. Skip has served as the Contractor Facilitator for multiple government reviews and audits including multi-zone evaluations, contractor operational reviews and annual property control system reviews.
