
Purpose
To provide a fund that will be available to National Property Management Association, Inc. members who have belonged to the association for a period of 24 consecutive months, and are currently actively employed or seeking active employment
in Property Management or a related profession for:
1. A refresher course on property management.
2. Seminars and training in connection with present position.
3. Other assistance to cover financial need for education or upgrading of skills that will lead to advancement.
To make grants throughout the year to applicants who are able to show definite plans for using training and education to enhance their profession.
Application
Application for a grant shall be made on the required electronic form which will notify the Administrator by email. Grants are approved on a first-come, first-served basis, so
applications must be received at least 60 days prior to the first day of the event (training or seminar) for which the member is applying for assistance.
Applicants must submit proof of acceptance to or enrollment in the course(s) or seminar for which they seek funds, and to prove that a financial need exists. The screening committee is ineligible to receive Foundation grants.
Awards
The amount an individual member can be granted shall not exceed $1,500 in a two-year period. A period of two consecutive years from the date of the last award shall have elapsed before a member may re-apply. The total amount granted
to a member shall not exceed $3,000.00.
All applications must be sent to the Foundation Administrator via the on-line application.
The screening and awarding of grants will be the responsibility of the Foundation committee, consisting of the Administrator, Assistant Administrator, Region Representatives (3) and the Executive Board members-at-large (2) appointed by the President. The decisions
of the committee are final.
Criteria for decisions in making awards:
• A need to upgrade present skills; and/or,
• A need to acquire a degree to keep current position or be eligible for a promotion; and/or
• A need to take a course to fulfill certification requirements; and,
• A financial need exists (the applicant does not have the finances or the employer is not contributing).
The Administrator shall notify the applicants of the application status no later than 30 days after the application deadline. The Administrator shall send notification of an award to the applicant and the National Office who will issue the check.
Disbursement of Grants
The National Office shall disburse funds required for course registration and/or certification fees to the registering agency.
Airline ticket costs may be considered for advance reimbursement upon applicant’s submission to the National Office of ticket confirmation and payment.
The National Office will disburse all other reimbursable costs upon receipt of an acceptable expense report with original receipts (hotel, rental car, meals, etc.). Meals are reimbursed at actual cost, and will not exceed $45.00 per
day.
Financing
Assessments for funding shall not be made directly against any chapter or region. Funds shall be planned, managed, and executed by the Administrator, National Executive Director, and the Foundation Committee.
Voluntary contributions, memorials to deceased members, recognition of members or events, personal gifts, remembrances in wills, or fundraisers will be encouraged. Business, corporations and other foundations shall be actively
solicited for support.
