Position Description
  • Provide independent confidential and informal assistance to all regional members of NPMA as a designated neutral or impartial dispute resolution practitioner.
     
  • The Ombudsperson is neither an advocate for any individual nor the organization but, rather, an advocate for fairness who acts as a source of information and referral, and aids in answering individual’s questions, and assists in the resolution of concerns and critical situations.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supplements, but does not replace existing resources for conflict resolution within the association, by acting as an advocate of fairness in process.
     
  • Reports to the Region Vice President
     
  • Prepares either oral or written reports to the Region Vice President. Such reports, if approved by the Region Vice President may be communicated to the NPMA Executive Board and, with the approval of the Executive Board, to the membership as a whole.
     
  • Does not accept legal notice on behalf of the organization.  Formal legal proceedings are only processed through the natonal office of NPMA.
     
  • Cooperates with other region Ombudspersons to produce reports that cross over region boundaries and are of national important.
