Writing Makes You Smarter- So Consider Writing for
The Property Professional!

I recently read an article in Inc. magazine titled “Writing More Will Make You Smarter.” The author argues that everyone is full of ideas they aren’t aware of, and the only way to really take the time to understand them is to write them out. One of the main reasons that I write is for a very similar reason- I believe it keeps me “sharp”. The author’s perspective made sense to me, and I immediately thought of our authors of The Property Professional.

We are fortunate to have fantastic writers in NPMA who provide varied points of view on interesting and diverse topics. This helps keep The Property Professional compelling and informative. We are always looking for new writers, too, who provide fresh points of view on topics relevant to our asset and fleet management industry.

NPMA Fall Education Seminar Confirms Keynote Speaker,
Sheriff Sally Hernandez

Register for the Fall Education Seminar November 15-16, 2017 in Austin, Texas and benefit from a wealth of knowledge from professionals in Contract Property, University/Medical, and State & Local Government in addition to hearing from keynote speaker, Sheriff Sally Hernandez, from Travis County, Texas.

Elected in November, 2016, Sally Hernandez is currently serving her first term as Sheriff of Travis County, Texas. Uniquely qualified for such a challenging leadership role, Hernandez has worked in Law Enforcement for nearly 35 years; 30 of which have been in Travis County.

Hernandez started her career in Law Enforcement in 1981, in Llano, TX as a night dispatcher. In 1988, she moved to Austin and served as a deputy with the Precinct Three Constable’s Office. In 1992, she was hired as a Sergeant Investigator for Travis County District Attorney’s Office. In 2005, Hernandez advanced to Chief of Investigations.

In 2013, Hernandez took office as Travis County Constable Precinct Three. During her tenure as Constable, her office was recognized by a number of law enforcement municipalities in her jurisdiction for outstanding service and partnership.

Hernandez took office as Sheriff, January 1, 2017 and holds the distinction of being one of only six women who currently serve as sheriff in the state of Texas. Her career achievements have garnered special recognition and awards from Rotarian Clubs of Austin, Greater Southwest Optimist Club of Austin and the Texas District and County Attorneys Association to name a few. She is also a member of many prestigious law enforcement associations including the Sheriff’s Association of Texas, Capital Area Law Enforcement Executive Association, Texas Jail Association, Fraternal Order of Police and FBI-LEEDA.

NPMA Foundation: Fall Education Seminar APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED!!!

There is still time to apply for grant funding for the FES in Austin. Even if you have reached your lifetime limit, or may not meet the criteria for a typical Foundation grant, we are accepting applications from all NPMA members. First come – First served! Applications must be submitted by October 10th. You could be “kickin’ it up in Austin” along with us!

The 2017 Fall Education Seminar (FES) is scheduled November 15-16 in Austin, Texas.
